Q. Will I still need eyeglasses after cataract surgery?
A. In modern cataract surgery, permanent lens implants are placed in the eyes. Patients may find that their distance vision without glasses is quite good and may use glasses only for reading and other near tasks. Newer lens implants called presbyopic lenses are also available which can reduce the need for both distance and near eyeglasses. Other new implants called toric lenses can reduce astigmatism. Dr. Oksman or Dr . Kornstein will be happy to speak with you about different lens implant options available for cataract surgery.
